The RPCS3 emulator for PlayStation 3 has been receiving amazing support from its creators. Recently we showed you how Tekken 6 runs perfectly on it, and it looks like the project even offers Vulkan support. Now, its creators have decided to take things to a whole new level. Sources indicate that RPCS3 is able to offer high-resolution rendering, which means that you can now run PS3 games at incredibly high resolutions on PC. The highest achievable result is 10K, by the way.
At the time of writing, there are 10 titles that currently support high resolution scaling. These include Red Dead Redemption, Demon’s Souls and Persona 5. Moreover, the emulator provides native Anisotropic Filtering, which makes distant textures look better. Tinkering with the emulator’s settings, you’ll find two resolution-related options. These are Resolution Scale and Resolution, and you should keep the latter at 1280×720 for most games. Resolution Scale, however, will help you render games in crisp fidelity. Setting these games to 4K will eat up most of your system’s resources. This means that a decent PC is required for decent results. As long as you have a truly powerful machine, though, you could crank the settings up to 10K.
In addition, future versions of RPCS3 will include custom anti-aliasing and texture scaling algorithms. The emulator’s accuracy will also be improved in order to ensure support for even more games.
