The Steam Hardware Survey for March has just come through and surprisingly the RTX 3060 has taken the lead from the GTX 1650.
For the past few months, Nvidia’s GTX 1650 has held the top position in the Steam Hardware Survey after taking the title from the GTX 1060, however this month the RTX 3060 has taken the title with a whopping 10.67% share and knocked the GTX 1650 down to 6th place with a 4.04% share, a 2.08% drop from its 6.12% share last month.
Why has the RTX 3060 suddenly shot up this much? Well based on my best guess the RTX 3060 is the best value for money option, ignoring AMD’s arguably better options, and is a solid option for the majority of gamers not looking to splash the cash. The RTX 3060 on Scan.co.uk is currently priced ranging from £324.98 to £400 which is a fair bit considering a higher performing 6650xt is around £300-320
Looking at the rest of the list AMD is still struggling to break into the top 20 ignoring their integrated graphics and Intel’s ARC GPUs still are nowhere to be seen. Of course, the hardware survey isn’t 100% accurate but it is one of the best ways of seeing the market share with gamers and mostly tells us that breaking NVIDIA’s market will be a long way away yet.
