RTX 4070 Won’t Be Replaced By Super Variant Unlike 4070 Ti and 4080

With the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 40 Super series including the RTX 4070, 4070 ti and 4080 Super, the original models are expected to be entirely replaced by the refresh, however, that may not be the case for the RTX 4070 which will co-exist.

RTX 4070 To Not Be Replaced By Super Variant

As shared by VideoCardz, the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti are expected to be entirely replaced by their SUPER refresh cards which are expected to be revealed in January. This information comes from Board Channels forums and suggests that NVIDIA is making its final orders with board partners on the 4070 Ti and 4080 with the inventory expected to be cleared by December at the latest. From this point, these cards will be replaced by their Super variants sometime after their possible reveal at CES in January.

However, according to further information on Board Channels, the RTX 4070 is said that it will co-exist with its SUPER variant for an extended period. The reasoning for this is possibly down to the difference between the two cards as compared to the difference between the other two cards receiving SUPER refreshes. The 4070 Super is set to receive an additional 1,280 CUDA Cores from 5888 to 7168 and is the only one of the three SUPER cards which is said to receive an increased TDP from 200W to 225W. Now this could be argued against as the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has received 768 more CUDA cores as well as more VRAM going up to 16GB of GDDR6X on a larger 256-bit bus.

The 4070 Super Co-existing with the 4070 could also be a suggestion towards this card seeing a later launch than the other two, all will be known at CES.
