A series of photos have surfaced on the Chiphell forums showing the true horror of the next generation of flagship graphics cards. We already know these upcoming graphics cards are going to use huge amounts of power, and I don’t doubt they’ll deliver truly insane performance. However, all that power means plenty of heat, and while the bulk of the design looks similar to the RTX 3090 Ti heatsink, it has certainly been upgraded.
The 4090 (Ti) cooler base has been upgraded, and it’s significantly larger, covering the GPU die and the memory modules. It does look like a staggering amount of metal though, more in line with a full-cover liquid cooling block than an air cooler. There’s also a larger number of fins packed in now too, further increasing the surface area of the cooler.
Beyond that, it seems the GPU will still utilise the dual-axial fan design, but with the quality of these photos, it is a little hard to say for certain. Of course, all of this needs to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway, as the photos themselves may even be fake. However, in recent years, leaks surrounding hardware are more often than not, right on the money. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Nvidia hardware has leaked on those forums.
With the card due to launch in July, the RTX 4090 promises to wow with 16128 CUDA cores and a price tag that’ll make Scrooge McDuck wonder if his loot pile is enough for one.
Of course, with the launch looming, I suspect more leaks will follow thick and fast, so we’ll keep you updated when they happen. Furthermore, we won’t have long to wait to confirm just how true these leaks are!
