Rumors Grow of a Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster

It’s hard to deny the impact that the original Grand Theft Auto had on the gaming industry. Pretty much overnight, and thanks to a healthy dose of exceptionally ill-informed press attention, it took a relatively small Scottish-based design studio and turned them into arguably one of the biggest gaming developers in the world today. However, in terms of the original gaming releases from the franchise, we are left having to play them in their original form.

Are they still playable? Yes. But age hasn’t been overly kind to them with most of the clunkier aspects being pretty evident to any new or returning user. Following a report via TechSpot, however, growing rumours are suggesting that Rockstar Games might be set to confirm something exciting imminently. Namely, the launch of a Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remaster!

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remastered?!

Since November last year, the subject of a Grand Theft Auto trilogy remaster has been a hot topic on the Rockstar Games forums. Remasters/remakes are, after all, currently something of the gaming industry’s flavour of the month. Following a fresh post by a notable source of leaked information in the past, one word in the thread has put the rumour mill into overdrive. No, there’s nothing specific mentioned, but the source claims that something is set to be announced by the game developer “soon”.

This has largely led to the conclusion that Rockstar Games may be secretly working on a complete remaster or even remake of the first 3 original GTA games and, presumably, some of the spin-offs as well such as GTA London.

What Do We Think?

Now, admittedly, this is a lot of speculation that should be taken with a pretty huge grain of salt. It does, however, feel that a GTA Trilogy remaster would not only be amazingly popular with consumers but given that we’re still several years away from the release of GTA 6, it would be something easy for Rockstar Games to work on and pump out even with a relatively small team working on it.

The only major issue is that Rockstar Games is incredibly good at keeping secrets. Put simply, they run an amazingly tight ship! Therefore, if this really is happening, the first kind of confirmation you can expect will likely come when they themselves officially announce it. – Let’s face it though, if this is true, then you’re probably already opening up your wallets to buy it!

What do you think? – Let us know in the comments!
