Rumour – “Impressive” Project Scorpio Specs Unveiled This Week

Microsoft’s 4K, 6TFLOPS Xbox One refresh, Project Scorpio, is set for release later this year, and the stars have aligned in such a way that suggests its hardware specifications could be revealed this week. Three separate – but comparably reliable – sources have claimed that Scorpio’s specs will hit before this week is out, with one even suggesting that they will be exclusively unveiled by Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry, rather than a Microsoft press conference.

The news of the imminent reveal of the Scorpio’s spec was first reported by Jez Corden, Senior Editor of Windows Central. Despite tweeting the reveal on Saturday (1st April), Corden was quick to stress that it was not an April Fool’s gag:

The next day, The Inner Circle podcast divulged that the specs are due out on Thursday (6th April) and will be carried exclusively by Digital Foundry:

This chimes with something Corden said the day earlier, explaining why Microsoft has not scheduled a press conference:

He then all but confirms that the specs will be carried by Digital Foundry:

Finally, Microsoft insider Shinobi602 confirmed both reports, adding that the Scorpio specs sound “damn impressive”:

In a parallel news report, Windows Central says that the Scorpio will feature a number of high-profile 4K launch titles, including Forza Motorsport 7, Battlefront 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2, plus first-party titles Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2.

Project Scorpio is set for release during the Holiday season of 2017.
