Rumour: Nexus 10 Refresh To Be Released In Q3 2014 By HTC

Throughout 2013 there was an abundance of speculation that suggested we would see a Nexus 10 refresh in the form of the Nexus 10 2013 edition. The Nexus 10 thus was expected to follow a similar path to the Nexus 7 and like the Nexus 7 2013 Edition the Nexus 10 2013 Edition was also expected to be built by ASUS despite Samsung making the first generation Nexus 2013. However, here we are in 2014 and we haven’t seen that illusive Nexus 10 2013 edition so when will a Nexus 10 refresh arrive?
According to IBTimes there are renewed rumours around the Nexus 10 that suggest we will see the new tablet in Q3 of 2014. HTC are confirmed to have won the bidding to manufacture a “high end” tablet for Google which is expected to be the Nexus 10 refresh. Of course that “high end” tablet might not be a refresh of the Nexus 10 at all. Google have already made their priorities clear – the Nexus phones and the Nexus 7 tablet. The Nexus 4 & 5 phones both sold like wildfire and we saw a similar trend with the Nexus 7s, yet the Nexus 10 produced mediocre results so it is quite possible Google has put the Nexus 10 on the back-burner.
With so many rumours going round about Google products right now it is difficult to tell if this one will materialise. HTC making the second generation Nexus 10? It doesn’t sound too plausible to me, although, it is still possible. I think it is important to remember that we still do not even know if Google will maintain the Nexus line of products, current speculation suggests Google will be axing the Nexus line and replacing it with “Google Play Edition” products. Of course Google is yet to comment on that speculation or any Nexus 10 speculation so we’ll have to keep on speculating.
