Rumour: Nvidia Shield 2 Will Be Released July 22nd

Nvidia’s fairly popular handheld games console known as “Shield” is expected to be updated to a new model later on this year. The Shield’s successor, aptly named Shield 2, is rumoured to be arriving on July 22nd. The price is not specifically known as of yet but is expected to be $349 like the original Shield was when it launched. Nvidia will probably follow a similar tactic of dropping the price incrementally over time in the run up to the next release, with the first Shield Nvidia dropped the pricing from $349 to $299 and then to $199.
As the AnTuTu leak below suggests the Nvidia Shield II is expected to run a quad core 2.5GHz Tegra K1 processor, with Kepler Mobile GeForce graphics and a 1440 x 900 display (which is 1440 x 810 after taking into account the impact of the menu bar). The Tegra K1 will ship with 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and Android 4.4.2. Some rumours have suggested we might see 3GB of RAM not 4GB and that early dev models were equipped with 4GB. Stay tuned for more details as we near the launch date.
