HIS has always been an excellent AIB partner for AMD and it doesn’t look like it’ll change with the upcoming generation. With only a short while to go until custom cards arrive, the latest HIS RX 480 has been pictured. The HIS RX 480 IceQX2 Roaring provides a new update to their lineup with improvements across the board. For one, we’re going away from gold shrouds to a new black and gold theme with lions.
First off we can see the new cooler design HIS has gone with. Unlike many cooler shrouds which are plastic, the Roaring gets a black metallic cover emblazoned with a golden lion. It’s a shame that you won’t be able to see the lion in most cases. The card also gets a metal backplate and TOP HIS LED lighting; it seems like everyone is tacking on LED lights this year.
Next up we have the power delivery which features digital PWMs but no word on the power connectors. The cooler features composite copper heat pipes as well as the trademark blue fans. Hopefully, we’ll see soon if the card will be the king of RX 480 jungle. What do you think of the new design paradigm HIS has gone with?
