AMD launched RX Vega over a month ago, but we’re still waiting for custom partner iterations of the graphics cards. Indeed, if new reports are to be believed, we’ll be waiting even longer. According to Hardware.fr, only Asus is ready to announce its own AIB (a triple-fan Strix). However, no other AMD partners have cards close to release. In fact, the same report claims the soonest we’ll see a custom card is mid-October.
AMD needs a win for RX Vega about now. Despite great anticipation, Vega’s launch disappointed many. In particular, both lacklustre performance and scant availability incited much dismay. As a result, a bunch of custom RX Vega cards – pushing Vega’s capability to its limit. Hardware.fr’s report, though, suggests AMD will be waiting a while.
According to Hardware.fr, Sapphire, MSI, and Gigabyte are not planning any imminent RX Vega releases. One unnamed partner even told the French tech site that any such launch is not possible until mid-October, at the earliest.
The exception, though, could be the Asus ROG Strix RX Vega 64 OC Edition. Last month, Asus announced plans to release its Vega 64 card mid-September. However, the card’s official page now reads “early September”. Some reviews already possess sample versions of the card, according to WCCFTech. So, any day now, surely.
