Those of you who were planning on purchasing an AMD Ryzen 1700x should definitely consider Micro Center’s current offering, which has this particular processor priced at $370. This is a significant price cut considering that pretty much everyone else is selling this product at MSRP, and the best part is that the 1700x is actually eligible for a combo discount as well. To be more specific, if you choose to buy this processor alongside a compatible motherboard, Micro Center will add a $50 discount for the motherboard in question, which is definitely nothing to sneeze at. However, the offer does come with a catch, as it only applies for in-store pickup.
This means that if you don’t live near a Micro Center, the offer won’t be nearly as enticing. Just in case you’re not aware, the Ryzen 1700x comes with a 3.4GHz clock speed and a TDP of just 95W, and it looks like it is quite a capable processor for both gaming and content creation. It’s also worth noting that this model doesn’t come with a cooler in its boxed version, a tactic borrowed from Intel and its enthusiast chip lineup. Most gamers choose to replace stock coolers with more capable counterparts anyway, so this shouldn’t really be a deal breaker.
