Final Thoughts

Prices

The Sapphire Nitro+ VEGA 64 graphics card is available from most major retailers. At the time of writing, it was just £679.68 on Amazon. The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti ranges anywhere from £700 to over a £1000 depending which model and which retailer you visit. Also, the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is around £299.99.

Overview

The launch of the new Ryzen 7 2700X is a big one for AMD. Not only does this CPU launch significantly cheaper than the first generation of Ryzen 7 processors, it also brings some pretty impressive performance improvements. Of course, with the new X470 motherboards, there’s lots of cool new hardware hitting the market right now for system builders to drool over.

Benchmarked!

It’s no shock that many of our readers and PC builders, in general, are interested in gaming. Thankfully, the prices of graphics cards have dropped quite a lot recently. Are they back to pre-Crypto prices? Not quite, but we will get there eventually. If you’re building a Ryzen 7 2700X and X470 based system, there is a good chance you’re also looking at investing in one of the top AMD or Nvidia graphics cards, so I hope my extra benchmarks today have been helpful. It’s just a little bit different to what we do in our CPU, GPU, and Motherboard reviews, and hopefully helps you make a more informed purchase for your new high-end gaming rig.

What Will You Choose?

So what’s next for your system, are you going to invest in the new Ryzen 7 2700X processor? Of course, we would love to know what GPU you would be pairing it with if you did. Just as important, if the 2700X isn’t for you, what would you choose instead? We know the Z370 platform is great for gaming for Intel CPUs, but Ryzen does have the edge when it comes to content creation and will appeal to game streamers and those who do more than just game. There’s certainly a lot to think about and many great choices for consumers right now.

How did Your Rig Perform?

Did you run these benchmarks on your current system? What sort of scores did you get with your CPU and GPU combination, and will upgrading to a 2700X with VEGA 64 or a 1080 Ti be a big shift in gaming performance for you?
