The other day we reported on an issue with Ryzen 7000 Series X3D chips burning up on ASUS motherboards, but as it turns out this issue is not just exclusive to ASUS motherboards.
As it turns out this issue we reported on Saturday is not just an issue with ASUS motherboards and has been found to also be an issue across other motherboard manufacturers as well, so what is causing this? As of now, the current theory is that AMD’s EXPO profiles, which are the equivalent to Intel’s XMP for overclocking, are pushing too much voltage into the X3D Chips and in turn causing them to blow.
If you own a Ryzen 7000X3D chip the current advice is to simply not touch any overclocking profiles and make sure your BIOS is up to date. On the AMD subreddit, there is a page which is sharing which manufacturers have applied BIOS updates to remedy this issue with voltage restrictions which you can view here. At the time of writing this both MSI and ASRock have released updates which restrict voltages ASUS have also released an update but some are claiming it to still be pushing high voltages.
