World War Z is getting a video game adaptation courtesy of Saber Interactive. It is based on the popular book series which were adapted into film starring Brad Pitt. Like the movie, players will face off against hordes of zombies and it will also take place in several locations. The gameplay is a four-player multiplayer cooperative a la Valve’s Left 4 Dead. Players can use traps, barriers and their environments to stay alive. The campaigns focus on “unique survivor stories and missions around the globe, including New York, Moscow and Jerusalem.”
Naturally, a wide of variety of weapons is also available which players can use to mow down the undead. Just like the movie, these zombies are not the slow-poke kind. It even makes the rushing zombies from Left 4 Dead seem like Stephen Hawking in terms of mobility.
The news first broke during the recent Video Game awards and it even includes a cinematic trailer. There is no actual release date is yet. Although, it will be on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 as well as PC via Steam.
Prior to working on World War Z, developer Saber Interactive released Quake Champions for Bethesda Softworks and Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Microsoft Studios.
