After a lot of talking around, Google and Samsung have finally set a date for the unveiling of their latest products.
Invites have been sent to various people, tech sites and so on for the new rescheduled event for the unveiling of both their latest Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich and the next smartphone Galaxy Nexus (or Nexus Prime). The newly released date is set as the October 19 and will be held in Hong Kong, the same date as the D Asia conference.
While the event will start at 10PM US Eastern time, a live stream will be provided for those unable to attend. To original event, scheduled for last week, was delayed out of respect for Steve Jobs.
According to the leaked specs, in addition to Android 4.0 the Nexus will have an ultra-dense 4.65” 720 screen with the same curve screen seen on the Nexus S, and may even be equipped with the beefy 1.5GHz dual-core processor, probably a Samsung Exynos or a TI OMAP, as well as NFC short-range wireless featuring including the brand new Google Wallet.
The Galaxy Nexus, or Nexus Prime, should hit the store around the 3rd of November in the US and may well be Verizon exclusive with at least a LTE-based 4G version.
