Samsung Encourages Users to Give up Their Note 7s with $100 Credit

Everyone knows by now that Samsung messed up the Galaxy Note 7, and while the company has issued two worldwide recalls by now and even shut down production of this model for good not too long ago, there are quite a few Galaxy Note 7s out there that could still potentially blow up. In order to encourage its users to give up these smartphones, the company came up with a very enticing offer that guarantees $100 worth of credit as long as the user in question opts to take home another Galaxy model. By doing so, Samsung can potentially ensure customer loyalty while dramatically reducing the number of remaining Note 7s.

Up until now, the offer only included $25 worth of credit, but even if you already took Samsung up on its offer, you can still receive the remaining $75 upon request. The new exchange program starts off on October 13 in the United States, and it will likely be embraced by quite a few Galaxy fans. Samsung also issued a series of warnings and encouraged Galaxy Note 7 owners to shut down their devices immediately, while Oculus went ahead and disabled Gear VR support for this particular model in order to discourage people into strapping a potentially explosive device to their faces.
