Samsung HS3000 Clip-On Bluetooth Headset Review

The HS3000 comes in one colour, black, and one material, plastic. It’s a solid piece of kit and looks as professional as it feels. It also accepts any headphone or earphone that has a standard 3.5mm plug. Because the microphone is integrated into the unit itself (next to the earphone jack), you don’t need to worry about having special on cord microphone earphones which is a welcome feature.

The right side of the HS3000 sports the playback controls to play/pause, skip tracks and fast forward or rewind if the skip buttons are held down. The front only has one button which controls the voice activation features on your smartphone or makes or answers voice calls. There is a single 2 colour LED just below the Samsung Logo.

The left side houses the audio and power control buttons. The power switch is a mechanical switch so it’s hard to accidentally shut the headset off which is a nice touch. In the off position the switch background is red coloured as a visual indicator. A full charge will deliver 6 hours of talk time according to the voice. The box states 7 hours of playback time. A standby time of 170 hours is pretty generous.

Below the power switch are the volume buttons, it’s worth noting that the volume control on this headset are independent of your phone’s volume control so if you adjust the volume on your connected smartphone or media player then you will also need to be mindful that the headset has its own volume settings too. An audible beep will indicate when minimum and maximum volume has been set on the headset.

“Boost your audio experience with Samsung’s HS3000 Handset and its awesome SoundAlive, which produces quality stereophonic surround sound and optimised with Audio Streaming. Featuring a choice of Normal, Vocal and Instrumental modes, you are able to tailor your experience depending on your specific activity. From phone calls to your favourite tunes, the experience is simply better.”

Finally there is a mode button. What this does is switches between 3 audio preset modes which Samsung calls “SoundAlive” (see above quote).

At the top there is just a single 3.5mm jack to plug in your earphones and of course the already mentioned integrated microphone. The reverse side has the clip which is of high quality.

Lastly on the underside there is a MicroUSB port which is used to charge the headset from any USB port. The LED will turn blue from red once it is fully charged.
