Samsung HS3000 Clip-On Bluetooth Headset Review

Samsung have done a great job with the HS3000. It offers a seamless wireless experience with some excellent features. At £35 it is more expensive than some of the competition but for that price you are getting CD quality Bluetooth transmission, no sync issues with video and good control of your media on the go.
Overview
You only get the full benefit of the hardware when you use your own earphones or headphones because the bundled ones are below average in terms of sound quality and comfort. Throughout testing I found no issues with audio skipping or random disconnects which often plagues cheap bluetooth headsets that you will find online. I even tried it on a non Android device (Nokia Lumia 920) and it did just as fine on that device due to the standardised Bluetooth connection.
The HS3000 is also a lightweight device, it will easily clip onto a shirt pocket, t shirt or jacket collar without flapping about while you walk or jog. And seems like a solid investment for anyone looking to keep their hands free when they’re out and about.
It is a little expensive, and the EQ settings being permanently on it something that bugged me a little, but overall I’m happy with the performance, features and quality of the device. If you can get one at the right price and you’re happy to invest in a decent set of headphones, then this is a very capable device, but it just falls short of our award in this category.
Pros
- Very good sound quality.
- Preset SoundAlive modes serve their purpose for various media types.
- Quick and easy Bluetooth pairing.
- Simple operation, easy to get used to the button layout.
- Audible tones for volume min/max reached.
Cons
- Bundled earphones cable is short at only 27cm.
- Bundled earphone quality is below average for both comfort and sound quality.
- No USB cable included.
- Some may find the 6 hours of playback time too short, especially those who are outdoors the whole day.
“Bundled earphone concerns aside, the HS3000 itself provides exemplary performance as a wireless headset. It allows you to send and receive voice calls with clarity while at the same time listen to your media with as much clarity as you would with a wired connection. It’s also not the kind of device you’d get rid of when changing phone or media player either, it’s a long term investment and doesn’t disappoint”.
