Ever since Microsoft unveiled the Surface tablets there has been much speculation about pricing and whether Microsoft OEM partners would bother making their own Windows 8 tablets. Well a handful of Windows 8 tablets were announced today and yesterday so clearly they are coming but we still don’t know much about the Microsoft Surface.
Samsung is one of the first Microsoft OEMs to come to market with a Windows 8 tablet. All of them will feature Windows 8, not Windows 8 RT, this is due to the fact they all run Intel processors not ARM processors. They equip either Intel Atoms or Core i3 and i5 mobile Ivy Bridge Ultra Low Voltage chips. Naturally the Atom based device is the cheapest while the i5 based device is the most costly.
Only the most expensive model gets 1080p Full HD whilst all the other models are left to languish in 1366 by 768 mediocrity. Only the Atom processors features 2GB of RAM as thats all Atom can support, the other devices all feature 4GBs – plenty for a tablet device.
As expected all these Samsung Windows 8 tablets will be made available from October the 26th, when Windows 8 launches.
Pricing starts at $649. Check the specifications below for more details:
