Samsung is introducing a new high-quality camera for creating and livestreaming 3D content for virtual reality. It is called the Samsung 360 round and it has 17 lenses in all to capture the surrounding area properly. The product made its debut at the Samsung Developer Conference 2017 where the company showed off its capabilities. The 360 Round camera’s lenses are arranged in eight stereo pairs positioned horizontally and one vertically. The cameras have a 1/2.8-inch 2M image sensor and an F1.8 lens. As for audio recording, six internal microphones handle spatial audio, while two external microphone ports are also available.
Aside from the lens design, the 360 Round is also IP65 water and dust resistant. It can survive in every day weather conditions and features a fanless design. This allows the camera to operate silently undisturbed without interfering with the recording. Aside from eliminating the background noise, the 360 round is also lightweight so that it is highly portable.
