Samsungs Super Ultrawide G9 has been rereleased with a new variant as the first super-ultrawide monitor to utilise OLED technology plus is enhanced with next-level AI upscaling technology.
The Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED measures 49″ with a 1800R curvature and is the first OLED monitor which offers the super-ultrawide Dual Quad High Definition 5120×1440 resolution with a 32:9 aspect ratio. This enormous amount of screen real estate already enabled users to lose themselves in super-ultrawide vistas and now with the introduction of OLED technology, users will be further immersed in detailed and vivid colours. Additionally, this display is capable of a 240Hz refresh rate offering the competitive edge in gaming granted you have the GPU to drive that high a frame rate on this high a resolution.
Setting this monitor apart from other OLED gaming monitors is the Neo Quantum Processor Pro. This uses a deep learning algorithm to intelligently analyze images and automatically upscale the image to adjust brightness whilst also amplifying contrast. This feature enables the monitor to restore each detail and deliver the most brilliant images, pixel by pixel.
The G9 features a slim design which is housed within a sleek metal frame and features the CoreSync and Core Lighting+ on the rear. The display itself features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to ensure a smooth gameplay experience and DisplayHDR True Black 400 delivers incredible details and vivid colours regardless of the game being played or the content being watched. There are also built-in dual 5W stereo speakers which I don’t see someone who drops quadruple digit sums on a monitor to even think about using.
The included stand can be adjusted by 120mm and can be tilted from -2° ~15.0° but cannot be swivelled or pivoted. Users can opt for an alternative stand by using the 100 x 100 VESA mount and should bear in mind the 9.2kg weight of the monitor and the size. The display can also be used like a dual monitor with the 32:9 aspect ratio splitting into two 16:9 displays.
The G9 offers a variety of different features and connectivity options including HDMI 2.1 and Micro HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, Auto Source Switch+ and a USB 3 hub.
The G95SC model also includes Samsung Gaming Hub and Smart TV apps which the alternative G93SC model does not. This provides users access to streaming, gaming services and entertainment all in one place without a connection to a PC or mobile device.
The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) will be available for purchase worldwide from June 12, 2023, with launch schedules varying by region. The G93SC model will be available globally from Q3 2023, for an MSRP of $2,200.
