Samsung have finally made the Galaxy Round 5.7 inch curved smartphone official. We reported a couple of days ago that the handset would be announced this week and Samsung have duly delivered. The official Samsung blog, Samsung Tomorrow, revealed the phone – but only to the South Korean market initially. South Korea will get the new handset from tomorrow (October 10th).
The handset features a concave inward-curving 5.7 inch 1920 x 1080 display which is one of Samsung’s Super AMOLED panels. Internally a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC powers the whole unit with a 2.3GHz quad core CPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is a 13MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. A rather large 2800 mAh battery powers the whole device which measures in at 151.1mm x 78.6mm x 7.8mm and weighs 154g.Samsung are equipping the Galaxy Round with Android 4.3 and a feature called the “roll effect” which allows the rolling motion on the curve to interact with the phone. There is also a “Gravity Effect” that allows you to switch songs by tapping either side of the display.
