Samsung Offers 30-Day Trial on Flagship Phones to Tempt Apple Fans

Samsung has recently launched an incentive designed to wean long-term Apple loyalists from their normal upgrade path and seriously consider a number of alternatives. The offer applies to existing iPhone owners prepared to try either the Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge for 30 days. There is a small $1 fee for this service which covers administration costs.
So how does it work? Firstly, you need to navigate to the trial’s webpage on an iPhone and insert the phone model and network provider. Once complete, Samsung will swiftly dispatch the selected model with an activated SIM. This allows you to keep your existing number and use the phone on a standard data plan. Unfortunately, the scheme is currently plagued by stock shortages but Samsung reiterated:
“In just a few hours, all of the kits earmarked for this program were reserved by customers looking to try our latest and greatest devices.”
“We’re now working quickly on how to make the Ultimate Test Drive available to even more people,”
This is an extremely aggressive move from Samsung and could help to gather feedback on UI improvements or simply transfer loyal Apple customers onto the Android platform. I do wonder how many people will abuse the idea to access a premium phone for special events. However, Samsung probably believes it is worth the risk and giving potential customers the benefit of the doubt. It’s a difficult feat to persuade Apple customers to defect, but this scheme is possibly the best idea I’ve seen.
