The Anymore’s Smart Case for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 stole the headlines yesterday for the ‘wrong reasons’, specifically for its very obvious similarity to Apple’s patented multi-purpose Smart Cover for the iPad2.
We think you might just be able to notice a few similarities. Both covers can be folded into different triangle-based stands that provide optimal viewing angles, as well as near perfect colour matches. For once, it looks like Anymore copied Apple.
Since noticing this, Samsung has released an official statement denying giving certified approval for the Anymode folding Smart Case while emphasizing that the product has not been made commercially available yet.
Samsung – As a general practice, Samsung Electronics reviews and approves all accessories produced by partners before they are given the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark.
In this case, approval was not given to Anymode for the accessory to feature this official designation. We are working with Anymode to address this oversight and the product has already been removed from the Anymode sales website. The product has not been sold.
