Samsung set to release Galaxy S III Mini on October 11

Samsung’s head of Mobile Communications, JK Shin, has officially confirmed that the South Korean company will release the Galaxy S III Mini on October 11 in Germany.

Shin announced the news of the S III Mini during a meeting with Korean press on Wednesday. The new Galaxy S III Mini is set to be a 4-inch device and has come about because of the increased demand for 4-inch devices in Europe. Shin also noted that the new, smaller S III Mini won’t be an entry-level handsets, telling reporters that it will have “full form factor”.

Shin said:

We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany. There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini.

This is an interesting move by Samsung, and should hurt Apple a little bit just before the announcement of their iPad mini. Hopefully Samsung own the patent for the word ‘mini’, or else they could be in for a world of trouble*.*may or may not be sarcasm
