Not too long ago, we told you that Samsung would be revealing its official report regarding the Galaxy Note 7 fires at the end of the month, and it looks like the exact date is going to be January 23. Still, even though the report is scheduled to come out next week, sources indicate that Samsung has already decided to blame the handset’s batteries exclusively, which is a bit strange since the smartphone’s design was probably the culprit. To be more specific, it’s very likely that the device’s battery was very tightly packed inside, and the resulting pressure along with natural swelling damaged the separator layers that keep the positive and negative layers separate, thus resulting in fires.
After the first recall for the Galaxy Note 7, the company blamed its affiliate battery division, Samsung SDI, for supplying faulty components, and it went on to assure Note 7 owners that the new batteries from China’s ATL would no longer burst into flames. However, we all know that those batteries also caught fire, which eventually resulted in a complete recall for the device. In any case, after its official report, Samsung will need to reassure its customers that none of its future devices will suffer the same fate as the Note 7, all in an effort to salvage the brand’s reputation.
