Samsung’s 18.4-Inch Tablet Specifications Leaked?

In the last couple of years, there has been a trend to increase the display size on smartphones and tablets, as illustrated by the Nexus 6. Previously, any smartphone above 4.5-inches was deemed to be on the larger side, but most devices these days range between 5.2-inches to 5.5-inches. This begs the question, what is the acceptable limit? According to Samsung, there’s room in the tablet market for an 18.4-inch model which almost defies belief.

The device’s specification has apparently been leaked via GFXBench 3.1 performance tests. According to the benchmark, the Samsung 18.4-inch tablet will feature a Exynos 7 Octa (4xCortex A53 + 4xCortex A57 – ARMv8 big.LITTLE) CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage (25GB once the OS and other applications consume space) and front facing 2-megapixel camera. The screen’s resolution seems rather low at 1920×1080 and offers a poor pixels-per-inch rate for modern tablets. Although this might help the Mali-T720 perform better in graphically demanding tasks.

Samsung currently refers to the device as the SM-T670 which runs the latest version of Android 5.1.1. Additionally, the tablet supports Bluetooth, GPS, a Lightsensor, and WiFi. Sadly, NFC isn’t possible, and the huge size restricts gaming focused inclusions such as a gyroscope. Nevertheless, this piece of information appears to prove the existence of Samsung’s 18.4-inch tablet and I’m fascinated to see who the target market is.

What do you think the maximum sensible size for tablets should be?
