With scarcely a week to go until the rumoured launch, more leaks for the RX 470 and RX 460 have started popping up. Set to use the new Polaris 10 and Polaris GPUs, the latest graphics card will be the smaller siblings to the recently launched RX 480. From leaked slides, the RX 470 is set to arrive on August 4th while the RX 460 will follow on August 8th. Today, we’re getting yet another look at Sapphire’s offerings as well as our first glimpse of the XFX RX 470.
First up we have the XFX RX 470 Double Dissipation. Just like the RX 480 Double Dissipation the fan are removable and the card features a backplate as well. There appear to be 4 copper heatpipes but we can’t confirm yet at this time. The PCB is custom modified with a single 6pin PCIe power connector, enough for the 120W TDP. Lastly, the card comes in an X-shaped box but only for the Chinese market.
Next up we have the RX 470 Platinum from Sapphire which is a modified reference model. There appear to be 2 phases removed compared to the image from the slides but it seems more likely that AMD made a mistake on the slide than Sapphire cheaping out. We’re getting a Nitro styled backplate just like the RX 480 from Sapphire.
Last, we have the RX 460 Dual from Sapphire. This card has been pictured before but we’re getting a better view this time. As we know, there is no need for a PCIe power connector as the TDP is under 75W. The card itself is pretty short as well, with appears to be a large portion of the PCB left unused. This may be a great card to challenge the recent sub-75W GTX 950 just launched.
With custom models already out in the wild, we can hope they may launch at the same time as the reference models do. It sucks enough waiting for the reference model to be in stock, let alone waiting even longer for custom cards. What do you think of the RX 470 and RX 460?
