Sapphire Announce Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X Graphics Card

Today, leading AMD partner and manufacturer of a broad range of graphics products and motherboards Sapphire announce their latest design; the Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X Edition graphics card, built from the ground up on a custom, compact PCB and featuring its patented Dual-X technology cooling solution.

Sapphire already have a 7870 Dual-X card with FleX technology allowing users to take benefit of AMD Eyefinity through use of three DVI enabled monitors instead of the more expensive DisplayPort option, but this new card only features a standard display connector layout.

The Dual-X cooler is optimised to give a low noise-output with high performance results and from the off we can see a lovely design too.

Other specs on the card include a 256-bit memory interface, with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. The clock speeds remain default at 1GHz and 4.8GHz Effective on the memory.

The card also features a single CrossFire finger for those wanting to harness power from two 7870’s and is powered by two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors. Display wise we find the usual connectors with two DVI, one HDMI and one DisplayPort connector.

Availability should be hitting us very soon and initial pricing suggests to be around the $230 mark. We should hopefully be receiving a card to review in the near future, so be sure to check back when we can show you the real benefit behind this card and its Dual-X cooler.
