Sapphire has just announced a new low-powered addition to its R7 series graphics cards, the low-profile R7 240 graphic card dedicated to the everyday user who does not need a performance-packed and more expensive solution at a high price.
The Sapphire R7 240 Low Profile is said to be based on the Graphics Core Next AMD architecture, surprisingly featuring two HDMI 1.4a ports packing high transfer and full 4K display resolution of 4096 x 2160, having the ability to use both HDMI ports at the same time.
In terms of specs, the graphics card features 2 GB of DDR3 memory clocked at 900 MHz with an effective 1.8 GB/s transfer rate, 320 stream processors core clocks of 730 MHz with a dynamic boost upping it to 780. The Low Profile name is also seen in its dimensions, having the active cooled heatsink lower in height than the card profile, which allows it to be fitted even in small form factor cases.
Having all GNC features, such as AMD image enhancement technology, AMD HD Media Accelerator, AMD HD3D support and native support for performance enhancement with multiple cards in AMD CrossFire as well as APP acceleration, the card can be used as an excellent media solution or as a general purpose computing solution.
Sapphire has yet to announce any pricing or release date. For more information visit Sapphire’s official web page here.
