Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB Graphics Card Review

Final Thoughts
The 6670 performed well and above a level then I was expecting especially given the price point of £70/$100. I easily played all my most enjoyable games at 1680×1050 resolutions and was able to keep most games at high settings in addition. For those that care, this is well and above the quality you will see on a console gaming system. Most games when set to 1680×1050 resolution played at frame rates above and beyond the 30 FPS that most console gamers are used to. The 6670 is such a excellent deal, I can easily see this being a grand choice for the person who does limited gaming, but need a powerful graphics card for application and video watching. It is also a great choice for the person who may be goaded by coworkers to get do some gaming occasionally, and although won’t give the best gaming experience resolution wise, it will allow a person to enjoy high quality eye candy and performance for some times of good killing and bragging rights the next day at the office.

Sapphire has done a great job in bringing affordability back into game system building, and by offering the 6670 at such a low price point even the entry level builders are given a great option to allow for gaming even if that may not be their primary focus. I find this extremely valuable given the price point of past video cards not really allowing for a solution that keep a system under budget while giving users a chance to enjoy some gaming in the future if so desired. I look forward to seeing this card offered in numerous OEM systems and core build kids at TigerDirect and Newegg. The Radeon HD 6670, this is definitely a step in the right direction for Sapphire who seems to be looking to the future as more PC users are starting to see the benefits of PC gaming, be on the lookout for a new horde of PC gamers in the future thanks to Sapphire. I anticipate once console gamers get their hands on this affordable card for their PC, they will see the power and beauty of PC gaming. This influx to PC gaming and new experience will most likely will result in console gamers becoming the next generation of PC gamers who can’t live without the best and fastest gaming cards and rigs of the future, definitely something to look forward to in my humble opinion.

Pros:

  • Awesome low price
  • Packed with a lot of features of higher end cards (HD3D, Eyefinity)
  • Arctic cooling solution, cool, quiet and effective
  • Able to run most games in 1680×1050 even competitive first person shooters in 30-60 FPS range

Cons:

  • 3 monitor application usage solution needs display port adapter
  • Eyefinity also needs DP adapter, and may run sluggish for gaming

We would like to thank Sapphire for supplying this sample

  1. That's not bad, good for a HTPC, but I don't think you should be expecting it to do eyefinity at that price…

  2. Good review, sounds good for those on a budget who will have a lower res monitor screen. There are so many cards on the market these days is very hard to choose between them.

Agreed. So many cards to pick from these days… I was fortunate to win a Gigabyte HD 5830 video card from a contest this month: GIGABYTE – Graphics Card – ATI – PCI Express Solution – Radeon HD 5000 series – GV-R583UD-1GDI know it's a much older model and needs lots of juice to run but it's free and more than I could ask for… considering I'm not a hardcore gamer. I'm one step closer to completing more first ever build with this card 🙂

  4. i know sapphire's blue PCB is their trademark thing, but i wish everybody would just switch to black PCB's. makes things look so much better!
