A Closer LookThe card itself is dual slot card with a black metal heatsink complete with Sapphires Award winning 5th generation heatpipe technology. There is no markings on the front side of the card to indicate the Sapphire brand until turned on its side. As you can see the heatpipe extends from the chipset to the black metal fins which wrap around the front edge of the card along to the back. You’ll notice the metal fins do extend quite a bit out from the front side of he card to allow for significant cooling for hardcore performance usage.
From the picture below you can get a better idea of how the heatpipes wrap around from the chipset to the front of the card, and get a more accurate measurement of how far it extends beyond the PCB.
Sapphire continues its tradition of going with the Jade (Greenish/Blue) colored printed circuit board, and you can see from the picture how the heatpipes wrap around the front and continue around to the back of the card, allowing for a gap to keep heat away from the PCB.
The side profile of this card has a Sapphire black badge almost graffiti-esque in appearance that adds quite a bit of style to the card and really shows off the badge when installed into your system.
There is no fans with this card, Sapphire has designed the heatpipes and heat dissapating fins for maximum performance, with adequate airflow in your case I found this to even outperform the fan solution in regards to temps.
Connections include HDMI 1.4a , Display Port 1.2, a Dual Link DVI connector.
Here is a closer look at the heatpipe solution, you can see how the heatpipes don’t overlap and have a good deal of space between the contact points on the black metal fins.
Here is closer view side profile view of how the heatpipe wraps around the card to encase the chipset extending around the front side of the card and into a good portion of the back side of the card.
