Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 OC 3GB Graphics Card Review

The 7950 Black Edition overclock comes with a whole bunch of features over the other 7950’s that XFX are planning. Crucially from the start we can see that the core clock has been ramped up by 100MHZ from the stock 800MHz and the memory has been upped to 1375MHz from 1250MHz. The 3Gb of GDDR5 memory runs on a 384-bit interface with 264GB/s bandwidth to maximise it performance.

Feature wise for XFX the card comes with a double dissipation cooler design with Ghost Thermal Technology, HydroCell Thermal cooling for the GPU core, double sealed dust free fan design, solid capacitors and ferrite core chokes for better power efficiency, and the XFX design rear bracket for improved airflow and cooling efficiency.

The crucial change we see with the step upto the 7xxx series is that PCIe 3.0 bus that will give more bandwidth and therefore better performance when installed onto a PCIe 3.0 motherboard with supporting chip.
