Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 OC 3GB Overclocked Further

We’re not going to delve much into what the card is all about, as we already explained all of that in the separate reviews, and we invite you to check that out to find out about its “stock” performance.
What we essentially have here is a Radeon 7950 from Sapphire with a slightly tweaked stock frequency of 900MHZ which offers a little bit more compared to your bog standard stock reference card, which is still a powerful monster to say the least. With these pre-overclocked cards each manufacturer will believe that their card is superior, and that’s what we are aiming to find out today by pushing it to its limits and overclocking the hell out of it to see if Sapphire can prevail.
Stock performance on the card is impressive with a 900MHz GPU core clock speed and 1250MHZ memory clock speed.
With overclocking comes a lot of heat generation and that’s mainly down to the increased voltages that we’ll be playing with. With this in mind, the likes of Sapphire among other brands, such as XFX have incorporated custom cooler designs. Sapphire have plumped for a dual fan custom design cooler to give the best possible heat dissipation and to provide the highest overclock when we start tinkering.
Not only is it a stylish design but also offers fantastic heat dissipation from what we saw in our review of the card, which you can find here.
