Sapphire is one of the most respected AIB partners and synonymous with creating exceptional custom versions of AMD graphics cards. The company’s Nitro branding is a seal of quality and informs the end-user that they’re going to enjoy low temperatures at respectable noise levels. Recently, Sapphire unleashed the RX 480 Nitro OC which featured a non-reference PCB, excellent cooling solution and gorgeous backplate. Not so long after this release, AMD is readying the RX 460, designed for eSports gaming scenarios. As you might expect, Sapphire has a custom model available for launch and it’s just been pictured for the very first time thanks to VideoCardz.
Judging by the photograph, the Sapphire RX 460 Nitro OC will utilise 4GB VRAM, have two removable fans and include a DisplayPort, HDMI and dual-link DVI-D. As more concrete details regarding its factory overclock and performance is still under embargo, consumers will have to wait for reviews to learn more. I have high expectations though given the excellent performance of Sapphire’s RX 480 Nitro OC and wonder how much overclocking headroom there will be. Clearly, the RX 460 is the first implementation of Polaris 11 we’ve seen and it’s probably going to be deployed in a number of affordable laptops down the line.
Are you looking forward to the RX 460’s launch?
