Sapphire RX 470D Performance Unveiled – Faster Than GTX 1050Ti

Some time ago, Sapphire unveiled the Nitro+ RX 470 graphics card which performed extremely well and outputted numbers very similar to the RX 480. If you’d like to learn more about the RX 470, feel free to check out the full review here. Despite the GPU targeting an affordable price point, another version has been created exclusively for the Chinese market. The Sapphire RX 470D apparently has 1792 GPU cores, a 1750MHz core clock, 4GB GDDR5 memory running at 7000MHz and a 150-watt TDP. Here we can see some comparison shots of the RX 470 and RX 470D from the Chinese site PCOnline, via Videocardz:
While the cards look fairly similar, there are certainly some performance differences. Interestingly, PCOnline conducted thorough tests comparing the product to the RX 470, GTX 1050 Ti and other cards within a similar performance category. Throughout the tests, the RX 470D achieved good performance numbers, just behind the RX 470. Also, the GPU enjoyed a good lead over the GTX 1050 Ti.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure why the RX 470D isn’t being sold outside of the Chinese market given the similar performance to the RX 470. The release is a little bizarre since the RX 470D is almost a slightly scaled back version of the RX 470. Clearly, the price point is key and if AMD managed to release the RX 470D at the GTX 1050Ti’s price, it would certainly dominate the entry level market.
