“I’ll be back,” never have truer words been spoken, ok maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration, but damn! Arnie is a man of his words. The legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger is indeed back to reprise his role as the Terminator in another trilogy in this iconic franchise.
Paramount has confirmed that the trilogy will start with next year’s Terminator: Genisys and will be followed by a second film on May 19th 2017 and a final part on June 29th in 2018. The production company has the rights to the movie until 2019, at which point they will revert back to James Cameron, although it’s obviously unclear if anything is planned beyond that point.
The new movie was always planned as a trilogy, but it makes sense that the current production company would like to cash in as hard as possible on the movies before their time runs out in 2019. Arnie is on board for the first one, but I’m uncertain about his involvement in the next two, although they would be crazy not to keep him around given his iconic place in the franchise.
The new movie hits cinemas on July 1st, 2015.
