Scott Herkelman has announced that he is leaving AMD after 7 years in the company.
Scott Herkelman To Leave AMD
Scott Herkelman is the Senior Vice President and General manager of AMD’s Radeon team and has been at the helm of AMD’s Radeon Graphics for 7 years. Today he announced on Twitter/X that he would be leaving AMD at the end of the year following three increasingly competitive generations of RDNA graphics architectures including the last of the RDNA 3 cards in the form of the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT at the beginning of September.
Scott has of course avoided giving any reason for his departure or any hints towards what his future holds though some suspect he could be joining another graphics team such as Intel’s Arc or even going back to NVIDIA whom he has worked with previously.
Hopefully whoever takes the helm of Radeon can continue to provide improving competition against NVIDIA.
