Scythe Ashura CPU Cooler Review

With the fan fitted you can see the unit looks pretty good as the black fan and black top plate match quite well.
The fan clips on in a pretty standard fashion and the clips just lock into a groove on the side.
The fan clips are a very tight fit and to remove them you need to remove them from the fan first not the heatsink.
The first part of the installation requires installing the stand offs for your sockets into the backplate screw holes using the plastic spacers.
When installing ensure all the screw holes line up and that you use the right backplate mounting holes. Unfortunately they aren’t labelled. There is insulation so ensure that faces the motherboard to prevent short circuiting.
Next you install the appropriate brackets to the backplate screws.
Once that is done you simply lock the unit in place with the pressure mounting bar. With the fan installed there is actually total RAM clearance but smaller form factor motherboards may experience interference on the first DIMM slot.
Here you can see a bit closer the RAM compatibility.
