A More Compact 5th Gen Katana Cooler
Scythe is launching their latest 5th generation version of the Katana CPU air cooler in the EU. It only stands up to 135mm tall, making it ideal for space restricted enclosures. Despite the compact size, it features six nickel-plated copper heatpipes so it should provide a significant performance boost over reference coolers.
Additionally, Scythe has designed the body of the Katana 5 CPU cooler to be asymmetrical. That means when the 92mm fan is installed, it will not interfere with the DRAM clearance. That is because the heatpipes and the radiator fins are positioned at an angle towards the back.
What Fan Comes Bundled with this CPU Cooler?
A 92mm Kaze Flex PWM fan is included with each package. This fan uses Scythe’s high-quality Sealed Precision Fluid Dynamic Bearing. That means it has a longer life than traditional sleeve bearing fans, while operating quieter even at high-RPMs. Its PWM controllable speed operates between 300 to 2.300 RPM. Producing noise levels from 7.3 to 28.83 dBA, all while delivering volumetric air flow from 11,46 to 83,04 m³/h.
Which CPU Sockets are Compatible with the Scythe Katana 5?
Scythe uses their new Easy-Clip Mounting System (ECMS). So users just need to push the pins and do not need any tools for installation.
In terms of compatibility, the Katana 5 fits Intel sockets LGA775, LGA115X and LGA1366 as well as AMD sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2, FM2+ and AM4.
How Much is the Scythe Katana 5?
The new Scythe Katana 5 (SCKTN-5000) is available now with an MSRP of 23.50€ (VAT/Taxes not included).
