Scythe Kaze Flex 120/140 ARGB Fan Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Although pending confirmation from UK-based retailers, it would appear that the Scythe Kaze Flex ARGB fans will retail for the following prices:

  • Scythe Kaze Flex 120 ARGB – £9.99
  • Scythe Kaze Flex 140 ARGB – £12.99

As we understand it, they will also shortly be made available in kits of 3 for £19.99 and £24.99, respectively. – As such, in terms of cooling fans, these are exceptionally competitively priced and should represent a fantastic bargain for those looking for an upgrade on their current generic cooling solutions.

Performance

Offering strong levels of airflow and low acoustic output, with, I might add, some very nice ARGB lighting effects, it’s hard to think of any reason why a consumer, looking to upgrade their system fans, wouldn’t consider these as an excellent and affordable option. As seen in our testing, they performed every bit as well as the high specifications would suggest.

For me though, a huge selling point is that while being both bright and vibrant, and clearly shifting a lot of air while doing so, they are amazingly quiet.

Should I Buy One?

It’s no secret that you can easily find cooling fans available to purchase for less than £10. Or at most £15. By and large, though, you generally tend to get what you pay for and these cheaper solutions often only leave the buyer with a sense of mild disappointment. For both the Scythe Kaze Flex 120 and Kaze Flex 140 fans, however, this is a huge exception to that rule. Despite being exceptionally affordable, they also perform exceptionally well. And not just in terms of the ARGB lighting effects, but by going about its job of moving air while making a surprisingly low amount of noise!

While by no means perfect, for this price point, I would say that these are about the best budget-focused cooling fans you can buy right now!

Pros

  • Strong levels of airflow while providing you with minimal levels of noise
  • Bright and vibrant ARGB lighting effects
  • Ideal for use as case or CPU cooler fan replacements
  • Excellent value for money

Cons

  • The PWM cable is woefully short, and the ‘extension’ cable barely helps the situation.

Neutral

  • New releases in an increasingly competitive market
