Not every user is going to pair the Scythe Mugen 3 with a high thermal load. As a result we have tested it with a stock i5 3570K as well as an overclocked to 4.5GHz i5 3570K. The results from our testing show the Scythe Mugen 3 to be on par with the Cooler Master Hyper 412 Slim, where clearly having only one fan results in a slight disadvantage for the Scythe Mugen 3. However, the numbers are still really good especially considering the noise output which we will show you on the next page.
It is when you overclock the Scythe Mugen 3 that it really starts to break away. The superior number of heat pipes, fins and overall design see this single fan cooler push 3 degrees ahead of the dual fan Hyper 412 Slim. The single fan Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced which costs a similar price also falls well behind both – the price it pays for having a super low RPM fan.
