How Much Does it Cost?

At the time of writing no prices for the Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB Plus were available. We would expect, however, that it would/will retail for something in the region of £50-£60. Roughly £10-£15 more than the original version.

Yes, the performance figures don’t necessarily put this fully into the ‘high-end’ air cooler market. It is though, a factor that’s represented in the price with this being significantly less expensive.

In terms of value for money, this is an excellent cooler!

Overview

Admittedly, before the RGB lights turned on, I thought that the Scythe Mugen 5 looked like a solid air cooler that, as many of them do, just lacked the truly eye-catching aesthetic presentation.

Boy though, when that RGB does kick in, this cooler is taken to a whole new level. Admittedly, RGB lighting isn’t everything. In fact, many would criticize that it’s used too often in the cooling market. Largely to make poor performers at least look nice. When it’s backed up by temperature control performance as impressive as seen in the Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB Plus, however, then you can only call this the total package!

Should I Buy One?

Over the years in which I’ve been reviewing coolers, while I have liked many designs, there’s probably only been around a dozen or so I would actually own and use myself. Of these, the Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB Plus is definitely the latest addition to that list. I love this cooler!

Yes, it doesn’t provide you with the cooling performance comparable to the biggest products from the biggest names. What it does do, however, is perform nearly as well while looking massively better!

Combining excellent performance and some of the best visual effects I’ve ever seen from an air-cooler, I would happily use this in my own system, and that’s one of the best endorsements I can give!

Pros

  • Exceptionally well designed
  • Easy to install (thanks in no small part to the accessories Scythe provides you with)
  • A genuine high-end air cooler that is suitable for stock or overclocked performance!
  • Excellent value for money!
  • One of the best overall coolers I’ve seen in a long time!

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Fans are a little on the noisy side, but not to the point of it being an issue.
