Scythe have updated their extremely successful CPU cooler the Mugen 2 to the Mugen 3. The Mugen 2 won many awards for performance amongst mainstream and enthusiast users. The improvements to the Mugen 3 include better cooling performance, a smaller overall size and an easier mounting mechanism.
The internal fin and heat pipe structure has been redesigned to increase airflow and reduce resistance, to create a Multiple Airflow Pass-Through Structure (M.A.P.S.). The cooler comes with a fully copper base which is covered with a thin layer of Nickel to prevent corrosion. The Mugen 3 has 1 more copper heatpipe than its predecessor the Mugen 2.
The active cooling is done by a single 120mm PWM fan which has airflow ratings of between 14.7 and 88.1 CFM at 300-1600RPM. The noise levels are very impressive at idle the fan will create just 9.6dBA and then 32.15dBA at full load. Socket compatibilities for the new cooler include all the latest AMD and Intel processors: LGA 1155, LGA 1156, LGA 775, AM2, AM2+ AM3 and AM3+.
Expect the Scythe Mugen 3 to retail at around £38.
