This one is pretty straightforward forward so we’ll keep it as such, as this isn’t a fast drive, but I was under no illusion that it was going to be. It’s a 2.5″ mechanical hard drive built into this enclosure, so the performance is about what I expected. Well, I expected about 120MB/s, so seeing it closer to 150MB/s is actually quite nice. This may seem slow, well, it is, but the point is this is bulk storage for backups and so long as this read/write time is faster than your internet speeds, then you’re going to benefit from it.
This is still about the equivalent to Gigabit internet though, so moving a 100GB game back or forth shouldn’t take more than 30-60 minutes depending on the file structure. Overall, pretty decent, and if you did want faster external storage, M.2 SSDs are great, but cost exponentially more.
