This drive looks fantastic and comes with a hard-wearing rubber type finish to it. That’s good, as it won’t scratch up, and it should show any fingerprints either.
Plus, the material choices really make the colour and texture of the graphics pop just that little bit more.
Around the back, it’s a little darker, but there’s more of that armoured design which does look really cool.
Unlike the Halo Master Chief Drive they released last year, this one uses a much slimmer form factor, and it’s a surprisingly compact drive. I can comfortably put it in my pocket should I need to.
The slim body does have a lot of appeals, and obviously, the case is big enough to house a 2.5″ mechanical hard drive, much like those you would use in a laptop. While the specifications of the drive aren’t detailed, it’s pretty safe to assume it’ll be a 5400 RPM drive, such as the BarraCuda 2TB found here on Amazon, or at least something incredibly similar.
It’s hard to see here, but there’s a small groove on the edge between the darker section and the green finish. There’s actually some RGB LED lighting hiding in there!
On the other side, there’s the USB port, as well as a small white activity LED on the right (the little black dot).
The colour matched cable looks fantastic, and it’s nice and chunky too, it feels durable and should survive years of bending and twisting.
Power the drive on, and you’re treated to some lovely lights on the front edge. They’re bright enough to add some ambience, but not so much that they become distracting. My phone picture here is a little brighter looking than it was in real life.
Hooked up to the Xbox and ready to play, and actually, the LED lighting is more accurate in this photo.
The Xbox sees the drive immediately. If you want to use it for game storage, you must format it.
The format only took a few seconds, and really, it was very easy to set up. Now, time to backup some games! Join me on the performance page!
