Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive Review

We did unfortunately receive this item without any retail packaging, as such we can only take a look at the drive itself. As you’d expect it is sealed in an anti-static bag.

Once opening up the packaging we can see that this drive is the 500GB model, and that support is available on Seagate’s website.

On the other side of the drive we can see a nice blue PCB compared to the more typical green coloured.

The drive itself weighs a touch more than you would expect from a 2.5″ drive at a typical weight of 110g, for comparison most SSD’s are around the 70-80 g mark. The drive is only 9.5mm thick with a width of nearly 70mm and a length of just over 100mm. This means that it will fit most laptops – although not all netbooks- and you will hardly notice any increased weight.
