Pricing
You get more than just storage with the Seagate Wireless Storage and as such you’ll have to pay a little more, but not much. You can pick up this 500GB drive for £107.16 at Amazon in the UK, $99 at Amazon in and $129.99 at NewEgg in the US. German readers can find the drive starting at €115.18 through Geizhals.
Conclusion
The Seagate Wireless 500GB Mobile Storage has its strength in the built-in WiFi hotspot that allows to easily connect to the battery-powered storage where ever you are. The pass-through function allows you to connect the drive to your router as well and have your normal connection sent through; no need to sacrifice here. To easiest way to load files onto the drive is the USB cable, but once the drive is set up and connected to your network, it will also show up in your windows network neighborhood.
We saw speeds from the drive that maxed out what the USB 2.0 port can handle as the internal drive used can achieve better far better speeds. With 40MB/s the drive might not be the top runner of transfer speeds, but it’s enough to quickly fill your drive up with all your data.
You can easily setup the drive and configure its settings with the help of the Android app, or one of the many other platform apps. It can automatic backup your files from your smart device onto the drive and has many more features as we saw on the previous pages. This is a really cool drive and one that will make the life on the road a lot more entertaining.
