Test Procedure
Test system:
- Gigabyte Z97X UD5H-BK
- Intel Core i7-4790K
- Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2400MHz
- OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSD
- CoolerMaster Silent Hybrid 850W PSU
We would like to thank our sponsors for providing us with the test equipment to perform these tests.
To allow for the fairest testing possible, I will be using as many different software applications as possible to test each drive. This ensures the most accurate results and increases the chance that it can help you making just the right drive decision.
Software used:
- Aida64 Storage Benchmark
- Anvil’s Storage Utilities 1.1.0
- AS SSD Benchmark 1.7.4739
- ATTO Benchmark 2.46
- CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3
- HD Tach
Testing the performance of a drive like this is pretty straight forward, connect it to the fastest available bus and run the benchmarks. In this case, the Seagate Wireless 500GB mobile storage has a USB 2.0 connector that I’ll be connecting to a USB 3.0 host. This ensures that we get maximum speed the drive can put out over the given connection.
