A Closer Look – Exterior
Power Supply Unit
The PSU is really well made, and the exterior casing feels durable with a lightly textured black paint job that should blend into your system build easily. There’s plenty of ventilation on the top of the unit for the built-in hybrid cooling fan.
Down the side of the unit, a small Seasonic Platinum Series logo; it’s not much, but it looks nice and tidy.
On the other side, you’ll find the technical run-down. As you can see, we’ve got a powerful 55A 660W +12V rail, more than enough to power even the biggest graphics card you can think of.
There’s plenty of ventilation around the back, as well as the master power switch and AC line-in.
A fully modular design will make cable management a whole lot easier when building your system. There’s a split 24-pin cable, five peripheral connectors and five CPU/PCI-E connectors; more than enough for your motherboard and two GPUs (so long as you can stay within the PSUs power rating). There’s also a hybrid fan switch. In hybrid mode, this PSU can run passively at lower loads (if it’s not too hot) and in normal mode, the fan will be always on.
Cabling
All of the peripheral cables are a flat design, with a good mixture of SATA and Molex to help you connect a wide range of devices.
The GPU cables are also a flat design, which will help greatly with cable routing and management. There’s a thick braiding on the 24-pin cable and it’s also nice to see that all cables and connectors are dark black, giving them a nice uniform appearance.
